Day 38 (May 25, 2007) - Tarot of the Thousand and One Nights
Met up with Stephie today to enjoy lunch at Annalakshmi
and pick up the Kinokuniya package. In the package
was the tarot deck I got for my dear friend Pammu:
Tarot of the Thousand and One Nights. It's absolutely
gorgeous. I've been doing a few simple readings with
them (all while centering my energies around
Pammu thoughts) to get them nice and warmed up
for her.
I know people say that not being able to buy your own
deck is a novice myth, but I never felt good about
buying a deck (wrapped in plastic and smelling
way too fresh) and then expecting it to work well.
Day 37 (May 24, 2007) - Midnight Elephant
Day 31 (May 17, 2007) - Kurosawa in Kuala Lumpur
Drove to KL in Malaysia for a four
day trip. This was taken on the first day,
where the rainy weather had created great
big clouds, obscuring the Petronas
Twin Towers. It reminded me so much
of the volcanic smoke from Akira
Kurosawa's "The Bad Sleep Well" (1960).
Here are some images from that particular scene:
Day 29 (May 13, 2007) - Microscopic City
Day 28 (May 12, 2007) - Lavender
Day 27 (May 11, 2007) - Twilight and Me
Beacause I haven't done a self-portrait in a while?
I decided to experiment a little, and try to be as unaware
of the camera as possible (which still isn't saying much).
In the first image above, I was aware of when I was
pressing the shutter, but not where exactly the lens
would focus on. On the next shots, I allowed the
camera to be on the longest timed setting possible,
and left it alone while I studied my notes on the
tarot deck I was working with.
(I'm looking up because I love staring at the clouds
that pass by my apartment window). So I think
these came out quite nicely.
Day 26 (May 10, 2007) - Death and The Empress
I originally bought this mini-tarot deck for Pammu,
but after talking with her about it, I realize she'd
perhaps like another deck design instead. All is not
lost though, as I can keep this deck and rediscover
my love for the tarot. It's been many, many years.
But it feels right somehow.
This set is a mini-tarot deck (44x80 mm in size), with
all 78 cards from the Major and Minor Arcana.
It's called the "Tarot Art Nouveau" and was made by
Lo Scarabeo, art by Antonella Castelli.
And just to show how small the cards are:
Day 23 (May 7, 2007) - Punctum Perched
Day 22 (May 6, 2007) - Untitled
More stalking from my 7th floor window!
We moved into the new apartment, and we still
managed to get pool side windows. I admit I love
watching people swim, especially the kids, hee hee.
This little girl was especially adorable.
She just stood up and spread her arms wide
as if to say, "Okay daddy, ARE YOU READY?"
